What is Mysteria?
Mysteria is an original plot and player driven supernatural horror role play game. The rp gets it's name from the town that the game is set in. Mysteria is sitting on a supernatural hot spot. The hot spots being a hell gate, a faerie portal, and magic ley lines.
What is the rating for this game?
Due to the violence and sexual content allowed in this rp it is rated NC-17. We are not responsible for any one under the age of 18 reading such content.
Please be mature about sexual content and respect those that might not wish to rp such things.
Also on that note, if you have a teenage character and they're under the age of 17 do not be posting explicit sexual content for them.
Where Is Mysteria?
Mysteria a town that we made up in North Dakota. The town is a small one with the back of it facing Devils Lake and woods surrounding the rest of it. Many of the houses are very old ones, most having been in a family for generations. Many of the business are local ones though there is a Wal-Mart (they're everywhere!), a small mall, some fast food places, and a few other commonly found stores.
How does time work in Mysteria?
One Game Day in Mysteria equals three-four real days. This gives people time to do scenes and get them up. A 24 hour warning will go up in the OOC journal when a day change is about to happen. Once the day change happens on of the mods will make post in the IC community marking this. The time updates will include such things as weather and events aside from the date in game.
What about plots?
The main plot is driven by plot bunnies that the mods will post up from time to time. Main plots will involve the whole of Mysteria and will affect all characters.
Player plots of their own characters are welcome and encouraged! Otherwise, how would character development happen! Any plots that will have an effect on the world of Mysteria or several characters need to be run by a mod. If you're not sure if it will cause a conflict with the main plot, just ask and we'll help you work it out.
Try to have a plot for your character or be a part of one. These will make the game and major plots for all more interesting not to mention give you something to do with your character as well as entries.
If you're planning on running a plot to have your character killed off, please give us a heads up first. Rape plots also need to be ran by a mod. Likewise, if you have a human or human based character and plan on having them be turn into another race, you need to run this by the mods.
How do I do a scene? Do I have to have AIM?
There are a few different ways to do scenes. You don't have to have AIM. Though AIM scenes are fine, you can also log them through GoogleDocs, any other messengers, emails, PMS, or through tag scenes in the community. Tag scenes are putting an entry up in the community and playing by replying to comments to that post.
A collaborated scene is when two or more players get together on IM or communicate via e-mail and post back and forth the actions of their characters. One of the players then takes that entire scene and posts it all together at once, providing a completed scene for the readers of the community.
All logs must be posted up in the main community and headed with the following information:
Who: What characters are in the scene
Where: Where the scene is taking place
When: At what time is the scene taking place
What: please include a one or two sentence summery what the scene is about
After the first couple paragraphs, please place the rest of your log/scene under a cut.
Here is a handy code that you can use for posting logs and scenes HERE
To make it easier for others to find posts with a certain character and to make it easier for mods to do activity checks, please tag your entries with the names of the characters in the scene. If you are joining an open scene, be sure and edit tags so that your character is now tagged for that scene.

Only the coolest thing for RPing since sliced bread. GoogleDocs can be found here. Please read their help file on how to use Docs. You can find it here. If you don't have a gmail or google account, contact a mod and we'll send you an invite.
Can I have an alpha wolf/master vampire/faerie lord type character?
Sure! Here at Mysteria we allow such characters to be made as long as we know the power will not be abused. Because of this you much wait until your second character to apply for such a powerful character. Also, if we have a bunch all ready, you'll have to wait until the numbers thin out before we start accepting them again.
I want to play a certain kind of character but you guys don't have the race needed!
No sweat! Just write the information up that is needed for it and submit it for mod approval. Or let us know what it is and we'll see what we can come up with.
Can races be mixed?
Some can. Humans can cross with just about any and the offspring will have a few of the gifts of their other parent. Half Demons and Half Fae (Changelings) are two possibilities. Angels have either human children or angelic children. Therianthropes are the same. Vampires can not reproduce except through magic and that's a whole other can of worms. Fae can and sometimes do mix with other types of fae.
I wanted to give my character a certain ability but you don't have it listed.
Once again, just write it up and send it in for approval! This rp is about allowing creative freedom and we're open to our players’ ideas.
Why do you need to know my characters sexual orientation?
While we are very open minded, Mysteria is a small town so there's not going to be a lot of homosexuals there. This way we can control the number in game. We've seen far too many rps that are slash feasts. And while that may be what does it for them, we don't want that here. Slash is fine when it makes sense and is in small numbers.
I don't want to join a rp where my character has no connections. What can I do about this?
Check out our Wanted page. Player and game wants and needs are posted there. Most times there will be someone looking for a character that has a connection to theirs.
Why does my character have to have weaknesses/flaws?
Yes, this is the hardest part to come up with for a character but it's a must for a well balanced character. Especially when you're allowed to give your character supernatural abilities. We have provided a list to help you out.
What about IC Pregnancies?
We have no problems with your character being or getting pregnant. We just would like a few things to be done. First, it has to a woman who is pregnant by a guy. Man pregnancies? Uhh, no you freaks. Second, it has to be played out like a real pregnancy. No mystical babies that suddenly pop out after a few months. Do your research. Third, contact us mods and let us know. We want to control the number of characters pregnant at any given time. We'd also like to discuss with you what the baby will be. This way we can make sure there's no mixing of races that shouldn't be mixed.
How does my character gain a higher level?
Advancing to another level most be played out in scenes and plots. We must see your character learning how to control their abilities and learning how to push and use them in new ways. One or two scenes does not count as enough for level advancement. When you feel your character is ready for a new level, email the mods and we'll review the characters development and get back you.

Well, other ghosts and spirits for starters. Dream Walkers, angels of death, shamans, and faeries can also see ghosts and spirits. Only humans who have the psychic ability or are haunted by a ghost can normally see ghosts. The only other time when someone sees a ghost is when the ghost uses energy up to make themselves be seen or if someone is looking at them through a camera since cameras tend to pick them up.
